SmartClipboard Help Center
Everything SmartClipboard does, and the keys for it. Settings are in the menu bar icon → Settings…, or open SmartClipboard again while it runs.
Open the board
- Open the board
- ⌃V, or click the menu bar icon
- Next / previous tag
- ⌘→ / ⌘← (or ⌃V again cycles All → tags)
- Close
- Esc, or click outside
- Menu (pause, settings, quit)
- Right-click the menu bar icon
Pick and paste
- Move between cards
- ← / →, or scroll
- Paste
- ↩, or click a card
- Paste without formatting
- ⇧↩, or right-click → Paste as Plain Text
- Quick paste card 1–9
- ⌘1 … ⌘9 (numbers appear while ⌘ is held)
- Select several cards
- ⌘-click to add, ⇧-click for a range
- Paste several in a row
- Select them, right-click → Paste Stack; each ⌘V pastes the next one
- Drag out
- Drag a card into another app
- Formatting is kept, including app-specific formats such as Telegram messages.
- The Quick Paste and plain-text keys can be changed in Settings → Shortcuts.
Preview, edit and create
- Large preview
- Space
- Edit text or rename a clip
- Right-click → Edit… / Rename…, then ⌘S
- New text clip
- ⌘N
Tags
- + creates a tag; double-click or right-click a tag to rename or delete it.
- Pin with right-click → Pin to, or drag selected cards onto a tag.
- Clips in a tag are never deleted automatically or by Erase History.
Search
- link, text, image, color, file
- Clips of that type
- An app name, e.g. safari
- Clips copied from that app
- today, yesterday, this week, last month…
- Clips from that period
- Anything else
- Text in the clip, its title, a link's page title, or text inside images
- Start typing on the board to search. Filters become chips; Backspace removes the last one.
- Accents are optional: hoa don finds Hóa đơn.
Settings
- General: open at login, menu bar icon, sounds, pause, paste into the active app or only to the clipboard, always paste as plain text, how long history is kept, Erase History.
- Shortcuts: open the board, pause, switch tags, Quick Paste and plain-text keys, reset to defaults.
- Rules: skip confidential and transient content, link previews, hide the board during screen sharing, apps whose copies are never saved.
- AI Tools: let Claude Code and other MCP clients read (not change) your history, on this Mac only.
- Updates and Subscription: automatic updates, your plan, licence key and Macs.
Trial and licence
- Every feature is free for 7 days. Then buy a monthly, yearly or lifetime licence on this website; the key arrives by email.
- Enter it in Settings → Subscription → Manage…. One licence works on up to 3 Macs.
- Without a licence your history keeps being recorded and can be browsed, but not pasted.
